New ILGA Website Coming Soon

Introduction
Over the years, the Illinois General Assembly (ILGA) website has been the source of much frustration and ire. There’s a lot of information buried within, such as House and Senate floor transcripts, although getting to these is a bit of a winding road.
On June 1, 2025, the ILGA will be introducing a new website with a new appearance. House and Senate floor proceeding schedules are posted upfront, and there are quick links to Bills/Resolutions; Public Acts; the ILCS; and the Illinois Constitution. At the top of the screen, there is a way to search the current General Assembly or select an earlier General Assembly to search. Once selecting an earlier General Assembly, the site segues to a new screen with clearly labelled links to many different types of documents, including transcripts (if available).
The new site will also include the “GA Dashboard” feature, which shows the House and Senate committee meeting schedules. The dashboard enables users to create witness slips. A witness slip is a person’s or group’s position on a particular bill, and a slip can be filed prior to or during a committee meeting. For more on witness slips, see the Illinois ACLU’s Q & A on the topic at https://www.aclu-il.org/en/illinois-witness-slip-faq.
The new ILGA site is available now in beta via a link from the current site at https://beta.ilga.gov. The current site will disappear completely on June 1, and it remains to be seen whether users will find this new version to be easier to navigate and locate needed items.
