Prof. Arthur Acevedo: The Hidden Joys of Tax Research
The Louis L. Biro Law Library invites you to join us for a lunchtime conversation with Prof. Acevedo in the first meeting of our new Scholars & Students series. We hope you will take this opportunity to get to know favorite professors in an informal setting and to learn what they are working on outside of the classroom.
Professor Acevedo will briefly talk about his current research projects, including his project which explores Congressional reaction to tax protesters and tax shelters. He will use this paper to discuss his successes and his frustrations in researching tax law. More importantly, he will also discuss the various methods available to students in selecting a topic of interest and in pursuing a research strategy. He will discuss the joys and challenges one can expect to encounter in researching any topic, including tax. Professor Acevedo will share his experiences with brainstorming, outlining, and organization and highlight the benefits each one can bring to the research process. He will also talk about the value of seeking contrary views early to help sharpen one’s research topic.
Join us for lunch on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 12:15 pm in Room 608. Space is limited. RSVP to jsommer@jmls.edu
